When I was a little baby freshman, I came into college feeling like it would last forever. I joined a sorority, Sigma Sigma Sigma, and looked up to older girls in my chapter so much. Now I am one of those older girls and I have younger sisters that are looking up to me. Since I am already so far into my college career, I have realized that I need to make the best of each and every weekend I have, because before I know it, I will be out of college and away from this amazing group of friends that I have made here at VCU.
This weekend, my boyfriends fraternity is celebrating their formal in Myrtle beach. About 50 of us drove down here on Friday morning and have been hanging out on the beach, exploring the area and having an awesome time. It was no easy task getting up early enough to leave, especially since I hosted a Harry Potter themed birthday party for my little the night before. I was running on 3 hours of sleep, had to clean my house before we could leave, and honestly I started to doubt if I should even go to Myrtle, because of how exhausted I was. But then I thought about how quickly these last few years have gone by, and how I knew I would regret missing out on these awesome memories.
Sometimes, the easier choice is to stay home and relax, which can be the right choice at certain times, but that can too easily turn into a habit. I am so glad I made the choice to come to Myrtle this weekend. So many of my sisters came too and we have been having the best time while also getting so much closer. Today we are going to spend all of our time hanging out on the beach. We are going to have a girls vs. boys soccer tournament and a kickball game. Even though the weather is subpar, this trip is not! I cannot believe I will have to say goodbye to so many of these friends in only a year. I am so glad I can look back and remember this.
Moral of the story, it is crucial to make the most of each and every day.
